Monday's Don't Have to be the Only Day for Restart

Whether your trying to lose fat, gain muscle or just get healthier there are going to be three things that require some massive adjustments: Your diet, and your attitude, and perhaps most importantly your attitude about your diet.

Avoiding pitfalls are half the battle, and a lot of that comes down to having the right mindset.

Having worked with clients for more than 15 years I've observed that most people suffer from an extreme inability to fail on a small scale. When they mess up that's it for them-they believe its now permanent and so they keep going with the poor decisions.

Wisdom tells us that if you find yourself in a hole, you should stop digging. That's the logical thing to do.

However when it comes to nutrition we are neither wise nor logical. When clients have dietary mess ups their impulse is to "make it worse" after they eat the brownie with loads of ice cream and caramel sauce they say, " Well I have ruined today. I may as well just eat whatever I want and then be good tomorrow."

That would be bad enough by itself. However for many people they carry the failure over to the next day and the next day and finally , " I'll be good tomorrow becomes I'll start again on Monday."

The Monday Mindset

When your thinking of starting a exercise or nutrition plan the mindset manifest itself with thoughts like these:

1. I'll go to the gym starting on Monday.
2. Starting Monday I'm going to do cardio every day.
3. Clean eating starts on Monday! This will be my last bad meal, so Im going to enjoy it!

Sound familiar right?

This type of thought process keeps you from progressing because it encourages a limiting belief that you can course correct during the week.

So how do you fix it? There are 3 steps to take...

1. Remove the Refresh button from the equation

There's nothing special about Monday. The fact that the calendar says its the beginning of the week doesn't mean that you'll burn more fat on Monday than on Tuesday or any other day.

You can start or restart a program on any day and that makes it so much easier to get back on track.

2. Learn to fail small

Mastering your small failures means that you become comfortable with the fact that sometimes you will slip up.

That happens to everyone.

3. Your Health is your Wealth

Say you took a trip to Vegas and as soon as you got there you immediately lost 500$. Your response wouldn't be to spend the rest of your cash. You would dial it back.

Your eating is no different.

If you slip up think of  it as "spending" these calories on something frivolous-just don't go over your budget and you'll be fine.

Coaching and accountability is how you fight these bad habits and start walking the path to success.

Let me know how I can serve you in this way.

I'm cheering you on!
